Assunnah Primary School will Insha-Allah be collecting donations for Syria on Thursday 20th October 2016. Donations should be taken to the conference room.
As part of our Broadening Horizons initiative for Autumn 1 we would like to take part in Aid Convoy’s Winter Appeal.
Aid Convoy is launching their Winter Appeal in response to the ongoing brutal conflict in Syria. We are all too aware of the sheer numbers of people that are afflicted by this horrifying war that has brought so much despair, death and destruction to millions of Syrians.
Horrific scenes from Aleppo show an escalation in violence and airstrikes – and signal even darker days for Syria’s people and especially the most innocent and vulnerable of people- children.
Children who have been caught up in a war they do not understand; a war that has brought misery uncertainty and loss. After five long years of war hundreds of thousands of children are still struggling to survive without food, medicine and clean water. The ongoing conflict in Syria has caused the largest humanitarian crisis since the Second World War. So many have lost families and friends. So many have been forced to flee their homes and leave their schools. Every day, Syrian children face unspeakable violence, a lack of food, and increased disease. As the war enters its sixth year- Syria remains the most dangerous place on earth.
Hearing the news one can feel helpless but if we all work together we can help provide life-saving relief to desperate people.
Our religion teachers us about charity and its importance as Allah says:
O you who have believed, spend from that which We have provided for you before there comes a Day in which there is no exchange and no friendship and no intercession…..Quran 2.254.
Our prophet, peace be upon him said:
Whoever relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, Allah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever helps ease someone in difficulty, Allah will make it easy for him in this world and in the Hereafter. Sahih Muslim 2699, Grade: Sahih
This is crucial opportunity for children to understand the importance of these ayats and how we can positively contribute to crisis situations as opposed to simply feeling helpless.
Charity does not decrease wealth. You can help by contributing to our appeal.
