EYFS Science Week 09-11 Feb 2026

Assalaamu’Alaikum Parent/Guardian,

We are delighted to announce that Science Week will be taking place from Monday 9th February to Wednesday 11th February. This term’s learning theme is “Amazing Animals”, and we have planned a range of fun, hands‑on activities to spark curiosity and creativity across the Early Years — including face painting and exciting science experiments.

To help us celebrate, we would love for the children to come to school dressed as an animal that matches the habitat of their classroom. Costumes can be homemade or shop‑bought—whatever works best for your family.

Classroom Habitats:
Nursery: ‘The Farm’
Preschool: ‘Under the Sea’
Reception: ‘The Jungle’

As part of Science Week, we are also encouraging the children to step into the role of scientists. Each child has been given a special challenge:

Create a Mini Habitat!
Using everyday materials—such as shoe boxes, recycled items, or craft supplies—children are invited to design and bring in a small habitat linked to their class theme.
This is a fantastic opportunity for them to explore animal environments, ask questions, and use their imagination.

Please bring the mini habitat to school on the day your child first attends during Science Week. We can’t wait to see the children bring these habitats to life through their wonderful animal costumes and mini habitats.

Thank you, as always, for your support and enthusiasm.
Warm regards,
The Early Years Team
