Introduction
At Assunnah Primary School, we are committed to providing an inclusive, nurturing and ambitious learning environment where every child is valued and supported to achieve their full potential.
We recognise that every child is unique and may require different levels of support throughout their educational journey. We work in partnership with pupils, parents, staff and external agencies to ensure that all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), can access a broad, balanced and inclusive curriculum.

What SEND Do We Support?
We support pupils across the four areas of SEND:

How Are Pupils Identified?
Pupils may be identified through:
• Teacher assessment and observation
• Monitoring of progress
• Parent concerns
• Information from previous settings
• Advice from external professionals
The school follows the graduated approach of Assess, Plan, Do, Review.
How Do We Support Pupils?
Support may include:
• Quality First Teaching
• Differentiated learning
• Small group interventions
• Individual support plans
• Social and emotional support
• Specialist advice and interventions
• EHCP provision
Working with Parents
Parents are involved throughout the SEND process through:
• Review meetings
• Support plans
• EHCP reviews
• Referrals to external agencies
• Regular communication with staff and the SENCO
External Agencies
We work with a range of professionals, including:
• Educational Psychology
• Speech and Language Therapy (SALT)
• CAMHS
• Occupational Therapy
• Physiotherapy
• School Nursing Service
• Early Help Services
Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
Where appropriate, the school supports applications for Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments and works closely with families to ensure EHCP provision is delivered effectively.

Transition Support
We provide additional support during key transition points, including entry to school, movement between year groups and transition to secondary school.
