Assunnah Primary School 

Provide a well planned, broad and balanced curriculum designed to further children’s development and learning, and at the same time acknowledge their individual needs and abilities.

Our challenging curriculum encompasses a great range of both academic and Islamic studies, is designed to be ‘balanced and broadly based.’ The aim is to promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils, and prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.

Our curriculum aims to:

  • To ensure that the National Curriculum and the Islamic curriculum complement each other
  • Help children develop skills they will use all their lives.
  • Encourage a love of learning
  • Self motivation and resilience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Enterprising problem solvers
  • Pride in producing high quality end product
  • Reflection and evaluation

The curriculum is presented in seven areas:

  • Language: English and Arabic
  • Mathematics
  • Social, environmental and scientific education: history, geography and science
  • Arts education: visual arts, nasheed and drama
  • Physical education
  • Social, personal and health education
  • Religious education
