URGENT – Measles Update from the Haringey Director of Public Health

Asalaamualaikum Parents

Important Health Notice for Parents

We want to make all families aware that there is currently a measles outbreak in the Enfield borough. Measles spreads easily, so we’re encouraging everyone to stay alert and take sensible precautions.

A reassuring note:
Our school does not have any cases, and we are continuing to monitor the situation closely. This message is simply to ensure we all remain careful and informed.

Symptoms to look out for include:

– High fever
– Cough, runny nose, or red eyes
– A blotchy red rash that typically starts on the face and spreads

If your child develops any of these symptoms, please keep them at home and seek medical advice.

How you can help:

Check that your child’s MMR vaccinations are up to date:
– Watch for symptoms.
– Encourage good hygiene and regular handwashing.

Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school community safe and healthy.

Measles is a serious illness which can lead to hospitalisation and death.

Please see the attached letter for schools and early years settings, with details on the actions required to contain the spread of infection. Please read the letter in full and follow the recommended actions to help protect your pupils, staff, and the wider Haringey community.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns at PublicHealth@haringey.gov.uk,
